back in October of 2000. We were newly engaged, had our reception venue chosen and were sitting down to chose serving stations for our cocktail hour. The conversation went a little like this - Nick - "Oh, cool, look a vodka and caviar station with an ice sculpture." Beth - "Are you kidding me? Vodka and caviar?, we're not Russian, we're Italian." "Look over the pasta stations again." So, yes, back in 2000 we knew nothing about vodka and caviar (and we ultimately went with the pasta station) or anything Russian for that matter.
Fast forward 7 years and we are a plethora of Russian information. I am sure that I know more about Russian politics than US politics, I know which days Russian holidays fall on, where each Moscow Marriott is located and how many points it is for a night, how to navigate through customs with only a Russian declaration slip, and can convert dollars to rubles in record time. Why? Because our journey to parenthood took a different turn, and amazing turn, a once in a lifetime experience, or so we thought it would only be once! Our journey to Luca was not by any means easy, but two years later those frustrations are a distant memory (much like I imagine the pains of labor are forgotten). So we embrace this journey again, in hopes of adding another amazing, little, light to our lives! We hope you will follow along with us as we begin the journey that will complete our family.
