A Crazy Week!

Wow, two is so different from one! The week began with Jaxon's doctor appointment and a trip to the hospital for x-rays. Let me tell you, getting xrays of a 13 month old is nearly impossible. As Jaxon went into hysterics we were able to get a tech who spoke Russian to come in. He seemed to calm down with the familiarity of hearing his native language. We got the xrays and the doctor gave us the all clear -no rickets and no premature closure of the soft spot (our dude just has a big noggin')!

Tuesday, the beginnings of our schedule were thrown for a loop! It was early in the AM when we got the call that Nick's grandmother had passed away. She had been ill and deteriorating in the last few months. As sad as we all were, I think we all know she is in a better place. We made plans for packing up everyone and heading to PA for the services.

Our trip to PA was a bit premature. As with Luca, we kind of hunkered down on arrival home and spent time bonding and attaching. We had planned the same for Jaxon, but knew that was not going to be the case. All went as well as could be expected. I think the boys were a nice distraction for Nick's family in this difficult time. Jaxon seemed to do OK with all the people and Luca was as entertaining and endearing as always.

Sleep was going well until the hotel in PA - uuugh! Jaxon is waking in the night and just screaming! It is heartbreaking. I brought him into the bed with me to calm him and that seemed to work a bit, yet he still was waking and crying throughout the night. Our first night back home the same thing is happening. He slept fine for 3 hours in his carseat (sitting up) on the way home yesterday, so I am wondering now if it is an ear infection. I remember Luca waking up screaming in the night when he had an ear infection, as the pressure changes when they lay down. So, I think we will head back to the doctor today to check that out first. Hopefully it is that simple and our sleeping baby will be back! He is sooo happy during the day and so animated that it is hard to see him get upset.

So, in a weeks time home our little dude has mastered crawling fast, standing up with little support, holding his own bottle, using a spoon, and his first word - yes, it was dada! He has also mastered keeping the dogs at bay when he is eating - no one takes food from Jaxon!

Today is my first official day with out Nick home. He is back at the office and I am home with both boys (Luca has no school on Mondays) They are playing nicely right now :) We have to figure out the logistics of a shower for me, a trip to the doctor and grocery store, and nap times. Hopefully I will be in one piece by the end of the day, if not, Nick better be bringing a bottle of wine home with him!
